Chhoti Si Baat is an endearing, lovable comedy about a painfully shy young man Arun Pradeep (Amol Palekar), who lacks self-confidence and fails to stand up for convictions, in the process letting all and sundry walk all over him. He falls in love with Prabha Narayan (Vidya Sinha) after catching a glimpse of her at the bus stop enroute to work. Lacking enough courage to approach her, he pines for her from afar while following her to her office, home, in the bus…. Prabha fully aware of his affections, secretly relishes the fact and loves seeing him squirm in discomfort, while waiting for him to make the first move. While, Arun seems hopelessly stuck, wondering what to do next, in comes the suave, brash Nagesh Shastri (Asrani), a colleague of Prabha’s from work and emerges a serious rival for Prabha’s attention. It doesn’t help that he appears to be miles ahead of Arun in the “race” and is all that Arun is not-He’s gregarious while Arun is shy, he’s confident and boastful, while Arun is besieged with self-doubt, he’s smooth, while Arun is awkward, he’s street smart, while Arun’s naïve, he’s assertive while Arun’s timid. All in all not a very good sign for Arun. Plus the fact that he owns a scooter further ensures that he would have enough opportunities to offer a ride to Prabha, while Arun can only look on. A gullible Arun, trying to match Nagesh with a bike of his own is taken for a ride when he’s saddled with a dud, further embarrassing him in front of Prabha. He seeks

Two Weeks Without Television Can Be Painful

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

The few weeks ago, I turned my TV on and it wouldn’t come on. The red LED in front just kept flashing until it went out and the “Lamp” light turned on. Oh great, my hubby had just took off on a military deployment and now I am without TV.

I instantly logged onto my computer to type my hubby, who just insisted we buy a LCD HDTV three years ago. I informed him that his “awesome” TV is down and now I have no spouse and no TV either. You have to love modern technology because the next thing I know, he wrote back and told me he bought the extended warranty on the Sony HDTV.

The extended warranty only lasts 4 years so I knew we were pushing it. I also knew the paperwork was concealed somewhere with all the rest of the significant papers we had. After sifting through documents for an hour, I eventually located it in an unopened box from our move.

I opened it up and found the date of purchase, just 3 months shy of four years. YES! So I called Sony and let them know the HDTV model I have and my purchase code. They arranged a local electronics store to come to my home, make certain it was the lamp and then exchange it.

They even gave me an appointment day and time. I waited around all day for the serviceman to come to my residence the day of the repair but he never showed up. Do you know how annoying it is to go from a 52″ HDTV to no high definition 19″ television? It’s quite dissatisfying.

I called the electronics company and ask them what happened. They gave me another repair date and apologized, which was satisfactory, everyone makes mistakes. Still, the next appointment never happened either.

Then I called again and they said that they just went ahead and ordered the lamp. They said the lamp would show up in two days. Three days afterward, there was still no lamp. It wasn’t until nearly 2 weeks afterwards that they eventually got to my home with the lamp.

The two techs simply took off the front access panel to the TV, unscrewed the lamp frame, and replaced it. It took about 15 minutes.

I could have certainly ordered the lamp myself and fixed it more than a week ago. I will definitely recollect that for the next time my loved high definition TV’s bulb burns out

Jim Williams recommends that you take a look at one of the few HDTV antennas on the market that actually works!
